[But none the less, expected. Loki keeps his hands in place as he takes a small step into the light.]

Peace, as I said. This is not the time to tear at each others throats.

Last time I saw you, New York was a bit of a mess.

[A contained mess and the Chitauri had been dealt with, but still. It doesn't sit right with him. Steve frowns, this doesn't feel like his decision to make. It should be decided as a team but the team isn't here.

There's a long pause as he stares at Loki, just considering.]

And if I agree to peace, what will you do?

My apologies, but I do not think this is a place to continue our disagreement.

[This was a new game, a different game and one he aimed to win. He would not fall victim to the mindless dead that stalked this wretched land.]

Offer an allience. This is not a place where a lone wolf can make do. Here he dies and the pack survives.

No, I don't suppose it is.

[Steve's not stupid. As soon as something shinier comes along that suits Loki better he'll take it and leave them in the dust. The question is whether he should keep an eye on him so long as he has the opportunity. A yes, most likely.]

Fine, but I won't speak for anyone else. Just so we're clear. I won't lie to you, Loki. I'll take them over you any day.

[ He's a step ahead of Thor on that regard. Loki meaned to keep going, to escape this place. If alliences were what it took, then he would make them.]

I'm certain you will, Captain but lets not forget. The game here is survival and the more of us, the better we work together, the better our chances.

[He's just not biased by any emotional attachments to you.]

To make a team work seamlessly, you have to trust them. Be willing to sacrifice for them. Everything you do is about yourself. You're worse than Stark.

[Thankfully, Tony seems to be learning. Whether you can, he doesn't know. He can only give you so much of a chance here.]

You're going to have to earn my trust, Loki. It won't come easy.

You think that I cannot work as a part of a team? There are those I have fought beside for three fold the years of your country if not more.

[But he makes no arguments about his primary concern. A ghost of a smile shadows Loki's lips.]

I have no illusions about that.

I think you can when it suits you. I don't know anything about the people you've fought with but there's a reason you're not with them now.

[He still doesn't like this but the variables have changed. Keep your enemies close and all that. At least if Loki turns on someone it won't be someone unsuspecting.]

Indeed there is, Captain but you are not privy to that information.

[There's a slight snarl to those words, Loki's face twisting into a frown. You touched a nerve Captain. Don't do it again.]

Perfectly clear.

I wasn't asking. Just making a point.

[He doesn't expect Loki to trust Steve anymore than the Captain trusts the god.

Steve nods crisply and eyes their surroundings.]

We need to move. We've been standing here too long.

[rockofages]

So we have.

[He can hear something approaching and he is in no nood to fight.]

Towards the East there seems to be buildings. Perhaps there?

[He raises a hand to cover his eyes, following Loki's thoughts Eastward and he nods.]

Seems like a good place to hole up.

[rockofages]

[Loki nods, no trace of the Trickster in place.]

Then shall we? [He heads off first, moving quickly and quietly.]

[He nods, moving with Loki and keeping him on the side with his shield, putting something between him and the god. Steve stays as quiet as he can in combat boots, occasionally glancing behind them to make sure nothing is gaining on them but it seems as though they're not drawing anyone's attention.

The buildings rise above them soon enough and Steve frowns.]

We should barricade ourselves in one of the upper rooms. We can't be surprised from outside that way.

[rockofages]

[He notes the caution with a small smirk, but keeps his attention ahead of them, leading them through the shambling dead on either side.

Looking up to the buildings, Loki's head cocks to the side.]

Aye, but the problem is getting up there.

They don't have stairs where you're from?

[Steve heads up to the door of one of houses, knocks and patiently waits for an answer. When there isn't one he tries the knob, locked. They've yet to meet anyone that lays claim to owning any of these houses and Steve can only feel so bad for ghosts in the wind.

Without much debate, he brings his shield down on the door handle and busts it off; the door swings open easily and he steps into the dark, dusty room.]

Hello?

[rockofages]

[He snorts, watching Steve break in.]

No, but they do have blonde fools like you in Asgard.

[He follows after, hand lingering on one of his knives.]

And a broken door is harder to barricade.

Thor's smarter than you give him credit for.

[Honestly, he has no idea if that's true but he'll stick up for his teammates.]

Not really the door I had in mind anyway. We can push something heavy in front of the stairs and do the same to a bedroom. I get the feeling these things aren't the smartest and they aren't very mobile.

[He takes the opportunity to poke in cupboards for food and, like he had at the last house, wrote a note detailing everything he'd done so far. He then directs any bill to be sent to SHIELD. Once this mess is over he'll take care of it properly.]

[rockofages]

It was not he to whom I referred. [Though he was a member of that group.]

Even so, another barrier is always wide against a horde. If they number enough, anything else would fail too quickly.

[Loki moves through the rooms quietly taking in note of furniture, toys scattered over the floor and family photos. His attention falls on the picture of a man with a round face and greying hair and a little girl with a big toothy smile.]

Found anything?

[Ah, well, then he has nothing else to offer about that.]

We needed in. [He shrugs. It's over and done with now. He hadn't seen Loki offering any opinions.] There's plenty of furniture.

[Steve sorts through the cans of food. He's not terribly picky. It can't be any worse than the C-rations he'd been issued in the war. Fire is out of the question so he's looking for things that can be eaten cold.]

There's a decent amount of food here.

[rockofages]

And there was no other way? [Unecessary as it was, the needling soothed him, familiar as it was. He truns away from the images, checking the security of the rest of the house. Close to the kitchen he finds a smear of dried blood on the wall.]

Good. I'm assuming your strength comes at a price similar to Thor, correct?

[starspangledspandex]

Never was good at the subtle approach.

[Steve really isn't irritated. Loki is speaking his mind and that's better than lies and trickery.]

It does. My metabolism burns four times faster than the average human. It might have slowed down some. My abilities aren't the same here.

[rockofages]

So I've noticed.

[He makes in interested sound as he follows the blood trail past the kitchen towards the back rooms. Peeking inside a room he see's the grisly remains of the homes occupents.]

You are not alone in that I am afraid. [Loki returns to linger in the kicthen doorway, face bland and calm.]

[Keep the blood and guts to yourself, Loki. Steve would rather not know.

He stacks some food on the counter, enough for both of them, with his metabolism considered. He doesn't know how much a god eats but he's guessing about the same as a normal human with the comment about Thor.]

Your abilities are different?

[He'll drag the table shoved against one wall in the dining room back towards the front of the house while he's listening. Steve flips it on it's side and shoves it against the broken door. It won't be heavy enough itself and he turns to shove the couch between the legs.]

[rockofages]

[He has no intention of sharing, Captain.

He enters the kitchen, moving to study the food, gaze flicking towards the note. He picks it up and crumples it.]

That will not be necessary.

Different? They are addmitedly lesser than they should be here, mores the pity. [He doesn't offer help, simply opens the cubboards, looking for things they could use as supplies. He finds a first aid kit and sets it beside the food.]
