___test drive meme: dead weight edition.

Step 1 → Post with the character and journal you're wanting to play. Leave the message blank with your Character's Name | Character's Canon.
Step 2 → Other people respond to your thread! Fight zombies, deal with the "fictional character" news, whatever you please.
Step 3 → ???
Step 4 → PROFIT!
Step 5 → Spread the word! Bring a friend! Make a random announcement on D_M! Get this post to crack the hundreds! It doesn't matter if you end up apping or not! This is a place of fun and meeting new people before the waiting!

Fine. Tony.

[What? It's not like he lingered. He's smart enough to avoid things that apparently want to kill him.

Steve stands and taps his shield.]

Didn't let anything get close enough to be a problem.

Good, keep doing that and get your spangly ass in here before you attract the whole city from the glare of your shield.

[He glances down at his shield with a frown and offers another quick, furtive look around the woods before closing the distance between them.]

I'm not the only one attracting things.

[When he gets closer he notices the state Tony is in. He looks like a mess.]

What happened to you?

[Tony, at first, just offers a glare in Steve's direction, herding him fully into the 'house' and closing the door behind them.]

Why did you get your suit and I didn't? [Because that is clearly the most important thing. Despite his exhaustion and overall raggedness, he looks positively peeved by this.] This place hates me.

[Inside, Steve slings off the backpack he's wearing and sets it down. It's only enough food for a couple days; he hadn't wanted to take too much from the family he had seen pictures of in the house. He'd grabbed an extra set of clothes too, though he had doubts about whether they would fit.

He furrows his brow.]

Couldn't tell you. It was in the room with me when I woke up. [Sorry Tony.]

[Tony spies that food and his stomach lurches, but he doesn't come any closer. He hadn't even had a chance to breathe, let alone snatch food from abandoned houses. He'd been half-afraid one of the things would grab his wrist in a pantry or something.]

What kind of room? Did you get retarded pamphlets telling you you're not real too?
starspangledspandex: (Can we win this?)

[personal profile] starspangledspandex 2012-06-10 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
It looked like some kind of lab. The woman on the phone said I was selected for the Human Regenesis Program. [Whatever that means.] I saw the pamphlets. I don't understand how we couldn't be real.

[He exists; he's pretty sure you exist. It makes no sense.]
tasteslikecoconut: (That can't be right)

[personal profile] tasteslikecoconut 2012-06-10 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I got the same schtik. Same room, too, probably, or one just like it. It sounds like a bad joke, to me, but my phone isn't getting service in this place, and my phone always has service. I can't even reach JARVIS, it's like he isn't... here.
starspangledspandex: (A sigh is just a sigh)

[personal profile] starspangledspandex 2012-06-10 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Someone has a pretty poor taste in jokes if it is. Those things certainly act real.

[He frowns, crossing to the window and leans against the wall at an angle that lets him see outside.]

This phone works. [He reaches into a pocket on his belt and pulls out the device.] It doesn't make sense that yours wouldn't.

[Steve is calling on his very limited knowledge of how phones work here. He has absolutely no idea about JARVIS though. He knows Tony talks to him and that he's not a real person.] Isn't he... an app on your phone?

They said that our home - [He gesticulates with his hands just like he always used to back home, clearly thinking out loud.] - Stark Industries, the Avengers, our Earth and Asgard and whatever else was created entirely from... someone's mind. But that this place is... real. But I don't believe pamphlets. Or women on phones - and no no, not that phone, I have one of those too and it works fine. My phone.

[He pulls out his Starkphone and the new one, which looked completely different. Tony's was, obviously, way more sophisticated and thin. And awesome. And had JARVIS.]

...you know what apps are? Anyway, no, he wasn't just an app. I made him. He runs my house. all of my houses, and my suits and... he was an Artificial Intelligence. Not that it matters, because he isn't here.

[Steve watches Tony, silent for a few long moments. There had been plenty of times he hadn't believed the world he'd woken up in was real. That waking up from the ice had just been some horrible dream and he'd wake up at any moment. He'd be on time for his date with Peggy and have a life that didn't include aliens or norse legends.]

If we're just someone's creation, we wouldn't be able to exist in the real world. People don't just come off the pages of a book and decide they don't want to be fake anymore. I don't care what anyone says. We're real. Our home is real.

[He frowns at the phones; Steve could care less how sophisticated Tony's looked. They both made calls.]

I don't use them but I know the general idea. Would anything keep him from being on your phone?
