In case you haven't noticed, we're not exactly super any more. [ He stops bouncing his leg, tapping his spoon against his teeth instead. The soup is mostly gone. ]

Hey. You're a nerd. What do you think of this we-are-fictional thing?

[Billy scrapes his spoon against the bottom of the bowl, trying in vain to mask his discomfort at the idea.]

I guess... technically it's possible. Our world has real super heroes, but there's still comics about fictional ones like Batman and Superman. With all the potential for alternate realities out there, of course there'd be a world where we're just comic book characters, too.

[He just never figured he'd end up in one.]

[ He was hoping you'd say no. He looks visibly disgruntled for a moment, before waving a hand and dropping the spoon.

He really can't sit still. ]

Someone's got a pretty sick mind.

[Billy just sighs under his breath, taking a few more sips of the broth. As usual, Tommy's faster than him, but he'd rather just take his time with this- not just the food, but the situation they're dealing with. If they rush in they'll just get themselves hurt, and here, getting hurt means more than just a trip to the hospital or to a healer. He can't cast his spells, and "Speed" isn't so speedy anymore.

Without a little caution they're both screwed. But he's not going to give up, that's for sure.]

We're going to make it out of this somehow. We'll get back home.

I don't need the pep talk. We'll just - we'll find some way to get your warlock powers back and jet out of here.

Witch, Tommy.

[It's nitpicking, but whatever. Without his powers his backtalking is the only weapon he's got right now. He very much doubts he'll be any help during a zombie invasion.]

I don't get why our powers are even gone. Wouldn't we be more useful if we could fight the zombies the best way we know how?

Probably easier to control us this way.

I guess. But I don't even know if I could do a teleportation spell that big.

I still don't get why out of everyone, they decided to nab me and you.

[...Heh. He'd expected that much.] And I would've preferred Teddy, but we'll have to make do somehow.

Wolverine would be pretty cool to have in a zombie apocalypse. That guy would rip everything to shreds.

Think he'd be allowed to keep his claws and the adamantium? They're not really powers, but his skeleton isn't exactly natural.

What are they going to do, rip it out?

[Is he supposed to call him "Grandfather" now or something? Because it's a hard thing to swallow.]

[Yeah that's totally why you're his favourite. Ugh.]

No kidding. Until we figure out how they nulled our powers, though, we probably won't know what to expect. I mean, you can't just... remove mutant powers, right? It's genetic. So they've gotta be disabled.

[He's hoping. God is he ever hoping.]

Right. We just got to figure out how they did that. Maybe these walls just keep us from using them, like in juvie.

[Billy winces slightly at the reminder; right, Tommy's been through this before.]

Or... some kind of spell, like Doom. There's a lot of ways they could've done it.

This blows.

[Billy doesn't argue, but he can't think of much of a response, either. Yeah, it sucks. And yeah, they're pretty screwed like this. Complaining just isn't going to get them anywhere. They need, for once, a plan of action.

Now I wish Kate were here. Or Eli, or even Nate. They're better at this part.]

I think we should try to find more people. Join a group.

Gee, thanks. [Such confidence. Still, at least Tommy isn't letting his bravado overrule his good judgment.] Our best bet is to find people who know this place- if any of them are still alive. Someone must have lived here at some point, though.
