Giles currently has a shotgun disassembled all around the roof and is carefully putting it through some much needed maintenance. He's had little enough luck finding ammunition, it would be just perfect for the gun to break down beyond his ability to repair.

Moans, groans, and scratching sounds drift up to the two of them from down below, but it will take a while before they stumble and shamble their way through the blockade on the skylight.
